I am making my New Year’s resolutions early. Here’s a great article about how to set up your own OGSM (Objectives/Goals/Strategies/Measurements). You can create your plan on a spreadsheet, in a word processing program, or by hand on a sheet of paper. It will help you focus your efforts.

Here's a set of my newest abstracts. They were created as wet-on-wet watercolors on Yupo synthetic support.

Here’s a link to the Zazzle version of one of my favorite improvisational abstract acrylic paintings. It was done as part of a demonstration lesson.
When we were still living in Los Angeles, we often walked in the Arroyo Seco near the Rose Bowl. I did a series of acrylics on canvas based on photographic studies I took there. They are details of shadows on the concrete supports of the bridges that span the valley. I have posted some of them to Zazzle.

By the way, I had planned to include links to abstract works by other artists on Zazzle in this blog, but some people do not like to have their links shared. If you want to include links in the comments section here, that would be great. I just ask that any works posted be nonobjective (abstract in the sense that they are not recognizable as any place, person, or thing–no “stylized” figures, landscapes, or still lifes) and not fractals. Because of copyright concerns, I also ask that any links reference work that is your own.
Zazzle’s new gallery wrap service is amazing. This is an example of what you can do. My Explosion in Teal improvisational abstract was photographed, uploaded, and then set up for print on demand in the canvas prints section of the site. Clients can choose this four-section division, two different three-section divisions, two different two-section divisions, or just the straight single canvas. I love the way this process involves the collector in the creative process. It also helps designers create the perfect look for their interiors.
This painting is part of my ongoing improvisational series. These works keep me loose and fresh. I am also doing watercolor runs on Yupo and uploading them to stock photo sites as use for backgrounds.
This digital collage was juried into a show at the Denver International Airport a few years ago. I created it, and others in the same series, by combining original digital photographs in Photoshop using layers. You can see other works in this digital abstract series on Zazzle and at Red Bubble.
When I began painting in 1987 I covered canvases with paint quickly. I put the resulting works where I could study them. I considered them messages from my subconscious mind. Though, through the years, I have explored many kinds of work, I have always returned to these.
